After satisfying our
other criteria, we attempt to learn as much as we can about
management.
Whenever possible, we hold phone conversations, and in certain
instances, on-site meetings with management. These are
invaluable in getting a sense for the honesty and integrity of
the team, as well as their commitment to enhancing shareholder
value. Through these meetings we attempt to gain a better
understanding of management's intelligence, operating strategy,
and growth plans. We learn about areas for investment,
opportunities for improvement and red flags that may produce
issues down the road.
Ancora prefers to
invest in companies run by management with strong industry and
operational background and an ability to communicate a coherent,
attractive strategy for enhancing short or long-term shareholder
value.
